Meet The 21st Century Milkman And The Plan To Eliminate Waste: Tom Szaky (#6)

Oct 16, 2019

“The most important thing is to realize the power of the vote you cast every day with what you buy.” – Tom Szaky

My guest on today’s show is Tom Szaky, Founder and CEO of TerraCycle Inc, an eco-capitalism and upcycling company he started as a freshman in college. TerraCycle began as a worm-feces-based fertilizer company in 2001 and has since expanded to collect over 50 hard-to-recycle waste varieties in over 20 countries. Tom is originally from Budapest, Hungary, currently living in New Jersey, and holds an Associates degree in Economics from Princeton University.

Tom Szaky joins me today to share the inspiration behind TerraCycle’s mission to reduce and eliminate waste that is currently reaching landfills. He explains how its global initiative, Loop, helps consumers conveniently reuse everyday products and how he is helping to create a future that will reduce our environmental impact while improving the lives of humanity. He explains how shifting from disposable to durable product packaging can reduce landfill waste while improving the environment and how TerrraCycle’s Diagnostics division can transformationally improve people’s health. He also shares what keeps him motivated each day to continually innovate and create new ways to manage and eliminate waste.
