LARQ – The Magic Reusable Water Bottle
I often do work in the library. Today, I’m sitting here jamming to a little Sandstorm by Darude (good for intense focus), rocking my Jimmy Johnson #48 cap (even though we’re a Kyle Busch family), and sipping purified water from my Larq reusable water bottle.
A couple of weeks ago, I asked for recommendations on my social channels for reusable gear to cut down on waste. The suggestions were fantastic (thank you!). Probably two months before that though I bought my Larq. My wife made fun of me – naturally – for spending nearly $100 on a freaking water bottle. Understandable, right? Especially when there are so many more affordable options.
But here’s the thing: it doesn’t matter if you own a reusable bottle if you don’t take it with you and use it and reuse it. Again and again and again.
For many of us, actually for nearly all of us, embracing a reusable bottle means changing behavior and giving up the convenience of single-use disposable plastic bottles. On the surface, that sounds simple. Heck, it sounds easy.
Of course, it is easy. But it’s definitely not simple.
Any change to our daily routine, even the smallest, is hard. In my world, we’re all so busy and crazy and scheduled that if the reusable water bottle is not in the exact, precise place at the precise moment that I’m already late and racing to get out the door, it’s not coming with me. It’s just not. Because it’s not my top priority, it’s probably not even in my top 20 priorities.
Which brings me back to my Larq. I love this water bottle. I seriously LOVE IT. I like the form factor. I love the technology. Because it effortlessly filters and purifies the water inside it each time I fill it up. And best of it all, it cleans itself. Yes, that’s right. This water bottle cleans itself. I don’t have to do it. No one else in my family has to do it. It does it all on its own.
The Magic Is In The Cap
Inside it uses UV-C LED light to eliminate up to 99.9999% of bio-contaminants from your water and bottle. All you do is charge it up (I’ve found one single charge lasts for weeks), insert water, screw on the cap, press the cap top once, and, presto, you’ve got purified water no matter where you fill up.
The water tastes delicious. There’s no tinny taste. The rim of the bottle is the perfect size for drinking. I feel like a genius for buying this bottle every time I hydrate.
Working in a library means I’m using the water fountain in the lobby. It’s so satisfying to fill the bottle at the fountain and then instantaneously purify it. And when I get home, I know what I won’t be doing – cleaning my water bottle. The bottle already did that for me. Thanks, bottle.
And tomorrow, when I’m racing out the door, I will go out of my way to make sure my Larq is coming with me. This reusable water bottle changed my behavior because it vastly improves my life.
